We are Karin and Frank and we have been together since 2007. We live in the ‘Heihof’, a farmhouse in Maastricht, together with our children: Milou, Robbie, Thim, Ruben and Azisi. Milou has moved out to an apartment in Maastricht and Robbie is studying in Amsterdam.
We are an ambitious and active family and hospitality is given high priority. You will feel welcome at our place!
While Frank is showing off his cooking and Karin is arranging a perfect atmosphere, there is always room at the table for anyone dropping by spontaneously.
That’s the typical hospitality of Limburg. It’s a successful combination and we wanted to elaborate on it.
So we started our Bed & Breakfast and gave our farmhouse a new purpose. Our aim is to have as many people over as possible, to enjoy the unique view, the fantastic historical building and our limitless hospitality.
History of farmhouse the HEIHOF (‘Heath court’)
The ‘Heihof’, also known as ‘Strijdhagenhof’, is a monumental farmhouse located on the wooded slopes at the end of the Bodemsweg, close to heath land ‘Ambyerheide’. It was first mentioned in 1406, when the Heihof was inhabited by Johan van Arnt van ‘t Zievel under a tenure from the House of Valkenburg. This family also owned Severen House. In 1537, the Heihof was taken over by Gerard van Strijdhagen and was since then therefore called ‘Strijdhagenhof’ or ‘Strijdhagensleen’. In the 18th century, the families Van Slijpe and Hons owned the farmhouse. In the courtyard the closing element with the year mark 1743 above the entrance gate indicates a renovation. The elongated barn with its characteristic ‘speklagen’ (literally lard layers), i.e. alternating courses of marl and bricks, was built in the 19th century.
